The Honor Seiki VL160C/CM/CMSL Series Vertical Turning Center is a medium to large, high precision, heavy duty machine with a symmetrical design using double vertical columns and main base Meehanite castings that are heavily ribbed for reduced thermal deformation and vibration with increased rigidity and accuracy in all types of turning.
The X and Z axes are a box way design with Turcite B applied to mating surfaces and hand scraped for perfect fit and alignment. The ways are completely enclosed and a forced lubrication system assures high precision, this rigid system enables heavy duty machining and high precision for long periods of cutting. The Z axis is a large 220 x 220 or optional 250 x 250mm square ram made from cast steel that is extremely rigid even when extended the full amount. The precision class 3 ball screws are driven directly by the servo motors, eliminating belts or gears for high precision. The cross rail’s movement is programmable in 4 x 200mm step increments for 31.5” total travel, the rail is clamped in position by positive locking pins to insure the cross rail is always precisely positioned and level.
The main base spindle construction is a heavy duty design incorporating a high precision oversized (compared to competitors 21-24”) 27” Timken Cross Roller bearing and NN type roller bearings to endure high axial and radial loads for heavy duty cutting. The High powered Fanuc 60 HP (75Hp optional) spindle motor with a ZF reducer and class 1 ring and pinion gear drive transmission produces a tremendous torque load of over 11,500 ft. /Lbs. providing the power for heavy duty machining. The optional 75HP (18,000 Ft. /Lbs.) Higher torque motor is for heavy duty brute force turning requiring Honor Seiki’s Solid Lock Tooling System as a must.
The ATC magazine stores 12/16 or 20 tools depending on model and options needed. Honor allows the choice of tooling from a patented Solid Lock system to standard type T-type, the disk style ATC provides shortest route tool selection and is completely shielded from chips and coolant. 12, 16, 20 and larger tool magazines are optional. Chip control is excellent as chips and coolant wash to the front of the machine with an ample opening directly into the standard chain type chip conveyor
